i know, with a terrible certainty, that one day my son will turn to me and ask, “why are they called mix-tapes? huh what’s a tape? why isn’t it called a ‘mix-file’?”, and like a melancholy robot, overcome with nostalgia for the lost tactility of certain dead technologies, and keenly aware that me too i’m a dead technology, i’ll put my dumb arms around him and weep like a motherless child.

Thank you.
This is wonderful. At the risk of being presumptuous I’m very much looking forward to volume two.
Anyone who can help me find more Swan Arcade material will be a friend for life. The internet is not being helpful in this regard.
Kletka Red are equally elusive.
I have also been wondering if Raymond Scott is a distant relative of Richard James, how has his music existed for so long and not been more known. the mind boggles.
Hello! This mix is both awesome and has opened up some new artists for me… Where can I get a copy of the Nina Simone song (live rather than on the album) as this live version is just terrifying+triumphantly good.
Thank you for Kletka Red.
Great mix. Shirts Off, fucking right!
thank you.
judy henske, kletka red, swan arcade were a great find.
Thank you for your words, I sincerely mean this. Too gorgeous.
excellent mix tape efrim, a thousand thanks. you chose one of my favorite nina tracks, in fact ive been trying to make an animated short film revolving around that song for the past year.
dan about the nina track its from the theatre royal drury lane london 1977 live album which is excellent. i also recommend the studio album baltimore which is one of her funkiest records. but your right her live records are phenomenal, try to look for her 3 track live one from 72 called emergency ward.
cheers,
kurtis
One day your son will be unconditionally thankful for this mix file. I am already, though. It’s an awesome summary of essential music.
love your acknowledgement of the passenger pigeon. i do a little label called omiimii which is one of the native names of the passenger pigeon. keep spreading the good word.
Any way to re-post? The file has been deleted and this looks like a great mix-tape. Thanks.
