a feeling like the police are always watching you, and then you realise that yes they are always watching you here.
and a heaviness in the sky, and in the hearts of all her lost children. and a simmering violence too, just under the surface, and the stink of stale beer and deodorant. and concrete rooms that do not forgive, but amplify treble above all, like playing music inside an enormous snare-drum, wound too tight to not ever explode, snap or cave-in…
thierry is broken almost= herniated disc in his neck. but soldiering on. first show was first show was 1st show. a little too shy to hammer the throttle, but steady as she goes up yonder hill and over the other side. seven more weeks to go- the blur, as always, will be profound. like reading underwater, the ink melting from the pages into the churning brine. say howdy to us if you see us on the road, tell us the ship isn’t sinking ok? tell us it’s just the water rising is all, and that soon it’ll ebb, and soon it’ll be dawn, and the light’ll shine down on all of us worried creatures under the one true sun…

Sorry to hear about Thierry – hope he feels better quickly. Dublin awaits you all with a hundred thousand welcomes. We are elongating the St Patrick’s day party for a second day in your honour…
I first saw you at Bristol’s Fleece & Firkin in 2004, and last night’s performance there was just as memorable as the first time around. Good luck with the rest of the tour – Thierry is a real trooper!
Enjoyed the gig at the Asylum tonight, the ship is certainly not sinking.
Hope the surroundings of North Birmingham didn’t bring you down too much. The police were at least not watching you, they’re terrified of Hockley.
Okay.
I’ll tell you guys that if we ever cross paths.
I hope Thierry is well, tell him to relax and try not to push him too hard, but I know you guys won’t so I’m not worried.
I know touring can be really exhausting. Make sure to take it easy and gets lots of rest. Maybe, if everyone feels like it, go on a little excursion out of your hotel room(s) and try to find something worthwhile in whatever silly place you happen to be staying at. Anyways, I hope everyone is okay..maybe after this tour a little break would treat everyone right.
We wont let the ship sink. Dont forget : there is a light !
And good luck to thierry and you all, see you on the road maybe.
Have a great gig in Dublin tonight….gutted I can’t make it down. Get well soon Theirry….
Yes have a stop off.
The Hell Fire Caves in West Wycombe just outside London has an interesting past! If you want somewhere to break up the journey that is!?

Looking forward to the London night.
Bless
The weather has been amazing for you so far (or at least, tepid… and muggy, which I personally dislike compared to cold and torential precipitation, but I wouldn’t wish that on you during your excursions).
That said, you can probably see why your music is becoming so utterly vital to a lot of people here. The bleak apocalypse your music has always painted in it’s most desperate moments definately has a grip on our outer city areas. There’s not much ‘heart’ anywhere anymore.
Very excited to see you in Leeds! Sure the set list will delight.
Pass on my regards to Thierry. No amount of appreciation for his efforts on this tour will be as appropriate as the simple phrase “please be well”.
You were amazing in Dublin last night. Sophie’s voice on the encore was incredibly moving – I hadn’t realised listening to records just how powerful her voice is. Have a great tour and thanks so much for coming to Dublin.
I saw some footage from the show at the button factory. hoorah! god bless made it back on the set-list?!? Thierry, I hope your neck feels better and maybe its your gnarly beard in all its girth making it flare up? I MISS YOU GUYS. See you in DC then in Nashville!
xoxoxo keep the noisy trolley rollin’.

We were at Birmingham (my son & I) a great night. I know its only a snap shot of the tour for yourselves but for us the two hour trip through Wales was worth every minute and nice to be able to pass on our appreciation.
Huge thanks for last night’s Glasgow show. Hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. Your music just makes so much sense.
Come back soon – and if you manage to take it all a bit slower maybe you’ll see some of the beauty there is in Britannia. And I wouldn’t bother about the cameras. Just look them in the eye and smile.
Mend quickly, Thierry!
Thanks again.
After having the pleasure of seeing you in Birmingham I can say that the ship definitely isn’t sinking.
And best of luck to Thierry!
very excited for this evenings shindig, may i request :
god bless our dead marines,
pretty little lightning paw,
stumble then rise…,
blindblindblind,
blown-out joy…
any or all of above w/ new stuff would be lovely,
that is all, be well tiery
You rocked in Bristol…but not enough heart in the crowd to push for the encore, sucking…and in spite of jetlag, babies, done in backs..cool, still made me trance out and get that drone shiver, just right!!!! woooo. blessed be on the leg, the woozy stacked leg of yr tour, sing the crystal hymn into the cosmos, we still hear. seen x
the dublin gig was just wonderful.it meant so much to us all. you bring hope and yes, there is a light. thank you so much.
love, peace and respect.xx
Sorry about the sweat box that is Manchester Academy 3. You sounded pretty damned good despite the heat. I suspect the wine helped. Thanks for coming.
Just got back from the gig in Manchester and I can safely say that SMZ live + United beating Liverpool = best birthday ever! If you guys ever come back to play in Manchester, I’ll be there. Good luck with the rest of the tour. (PS Efrim is right, pineapple has no place on a pizza.)
Cracking set last night in Leeds! Everything I’d hoped for and more. Sounded huge and heavy and epic. Collapse Traditonals was immmmense. A fine choice for the encore.
Thank You! See you again soon.
saw the amazing show in Dublin last week-still shaking my head in amazement-’musicians are cowards’ writes Efrim on bought poster.
thank you for an unforgettable night-get well soon Thierry-please be well–x–xooxoxo
Saw you guys last night in Electric Ballroom, London. What a show! The best ‘back & fourth’ banter yet. The crowd roared for you all!
Your sound was as strong as ever, even with the loss of a couple band members. Your new percussionist is great too.
Thanks ever so much guys, I always feel like I’m at home when I see you guys live, and the feeling doesn’t subside for a good week or so.
Again, thanks, and I will definitely see you all next time.
Take care & be safe.
Saw you at leeds, was well worth the patient wait. thank you.xo

Strange: that’s the exact same way I felt seeing them in Dublin last week – about halfway through There Is A Light, I felt as secure and comfortable as if I was at home in bed. That’s a compliment now, not saying that your music makes me feel sleepy or anything. Quite the opposite really.
Hopefully see yous in Paris in April!
Any chance of BLINDBLINDBLIND in that setlist? Pwease?
You should come and get high after the show in Sheffield, tomorrow night.

Silent Night + Horses in the Sky?
Saw you guy’s in London. Fantastic concert. The blend of emotionaly charged music and some of the funniest banter I’ve ever heard was genius. Apparently Thierry was nearly broken… couldn’t tell he played like an absolute star.
Anyway enough blather, thanks again for a great gig and see you soon. Please be well!
XXXXXXXXX
The ship is definitely sinking but at least we have some good music while it is going down x
Another great show in Nottingham last night. Don’t make us wait too long for a return visit. God bless!
Bristol was “steady as she goes”? You were sooo good we’re coming to Brighton too. See you there
